In this beautiful wood-block lithograph by the Japanese artist Okara Koson  (&#8220;Monkey and Reflection of the Moon&#8221;) the monkey is not fishing, but reaching for the moon&#8217;s reflection. The image makes it plain that the name of the move is not meant to be taken literally. Instead, it&#8217;s a metaphor for a beautiful but impossible dream.
